TRUE Pilates (formerly called “Contrology”) is a method of full body conditioning comprised of over 500+ movement-based exercises executed on a full system of equipment developed by Joseph Pilates and passed to his protégé, Romana Kryzanowska.
Done correctly, Pilates targets and, thus, strengthens a specific group of muscles we call the “Powerhouse.” These muscles are responsible for complete body alignment, proper posture, and balanced movement, 
i.e. they make your body happy.

At TRUE Pilates Santa Monica we value quality and prioritize your well-being above all else. For that reason every TRUE Pilates Santa Monica instructor is certified exclusively through the legendary Romana’s Pilates International instructor training program. With a minimum of 600+ hours and an average of a year and half to complete and numerous amounts of individual testing, RPI is the most prestigious and diligent certification in the world
Each TPSM instructor is required to
 maintain their practice through weekly lessons with an approved (Romana’s) instructor and to keep a current, yearly-renewed certification through RPI, no exceptions.

True Pilates Santa Monica is fully equipped with all the “classical” apparatus designed by 
Gratzthe original Pilates apparatus manufacturer. All of our instructors are trained exclusively on this brand equipment as part of their certification.

Stretch overused muscles, strengthen weaker/underused muscles, and create controlled, intentional movement using your mind. Pilates is not a mindless form of fitness. It requires concentration to develop and maintain cognition. Simply put: we value the quality of movement, not the quantity of work.
